Description

This unit discusses the major changes in the country's governance since the establishment of the People's Republic of China in 1949. Major topics discussed in this unit include the ideology of Chinese communism, the rise and decline of Chinese communism, how the Chinese Communist Party governs China, how the central government and local governments work together, how Chinese leaders are selected, how the emergence of the middle class affects the relationship between the state and society, etc.
